Futures Boarding House is situated in Rusape town at 12 Nyabadza Avenue, 2km from the school. The School is however currently renovating some rooms at the school main campus to turn them into boarding houses in time for 2021 academic year. The current Boarding House which has a carrying capacity of 40 students is divided into two: one side for girls and the other for boys, only meeting in the dining room. Children are taken to the school by bus, Monday to Friday in the morning at 7am, returning at 5pm except on Fridays when they return at lunch hour. Between Monday and Thursday they are served their lunches at school. Futures try to ensure students experience a *Feel-at-home atmosphere* at the Boarding house, while inculcating and developing independent life skills such as house-keeping, teamwork, and living well with fellow students.
A Matron and Chef are resident on site to supervise the resident students. To assist with study supervision and discipline, two teachers, one male and one female, are resident at the Boarding complex.
The House shares a durawall boundary to the south with an upmarket clinic. The clinic's proximity helps in cases of any health emergencies requiring immediate attention. Opposite the road, on the northern side is the Main Police Station. This helps with any security related emergencies requiring police.
The Dining hall is at the heart of boarding school life. It is where students eat, relax, and get to know each other in a context other than the classroom. Our boarding staff try to make students feel at home by providing special menus and school food that remind them of home and that celebrate their cultures or, in some cases, introduce them to the new cultures. We offer a variety of Meats, Pasta, Rice, Sadza, Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, Legumes, Fruits and Desserts that range from functional to fun thereby meeting the variety of interest of our students. Students are served breakfast, lunch and supper daily and can eat their tuck at break time and afternoon tea time.
Through the boarding house facility, we create a second "residential" curriculum beyond academics, devoted to developing the whole person-mind, body, and spirit-after school, in the evening, and on the weekends. For that purpose, students perform light duties to clean and maintain order in their rooms. The rest of the Boarding facilities are routinely cleaned and sanitised by grounds staff.
The House has a Smart TV on which students can view both educative and entertaining channels, under the supervision of the boarding staff at select times. In addition, students get an opportunity to get into town once a week for their shopping under the protection of the Boarding staff.
Children's lives can never be complete without spiritual nourishment. Therefore, every Sunday, the boarders are accompanied to the nearest Church for a morning service. Students also have access to the Boarding House flower grounds for quiet time or playing their own games.
We encourage students to leave valuables at home, and any approved valuables e.g. phone, jewellery or cash must be handed in to the Matron for safekeeping. Futures will not be responsible for any lost/stolen valuables for students who do not follow these guidelines. We also have a strict no theft policy at Futures and anyone found to be in possession of items that do not belong to them will be reprimanded.
